Compulsory Purchase Orders

Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPO’s) can be challenging.  We at Elliott & FitzGerald have a highly experienced team acting on behalf of Claimants.  Our extensive knowledge in Commercial Property, and Commercial and Residential Valuations mean we can offer top quality strategic advice on all types of projects and schemes, and see you through the entire process.

There is growing demand for land for road widening and provision of services. Statutory bodies utilise their powers under compulsory purchase orders to acquire land and property to meet such uses.

Central and Local Government authorities possess compulsory purchase powers.  Property owners can be affected by CPO's, which result in the loss of the whole or part of their property, and can cause serious disruption to business and loss of privacy to the house owner.

We prepare detailed claims for compensation under all heads and negotiate with the acquiring authorities on behalf of clients.  It is often necessary also to present evidence to an Arbitrator or Court.  We place a high emphasis on the quality of the presentation and the relevance of the supporting information.

We have advised claimants on some of the larger infrastructural projects.  These include the LUAS system, Cherrywood extension, and many of the larger road acquisitions including the Dublin Port Tunnel and Dunboyne (M3) Commuter Rail Project.
